ABS Warning light
Hi All

I've noticed recently that the ABS light comes on when I go off-road and there is some wheel spin. The light remains on until the ignition is switched off, then it resets and stays off on the next start-up of the engine. The ABS operation of the brakes, however, seems normal. Is it normal for the light to come on when there's wheel spin?

I Paj is a 2006 GLX 3.2DiD LWB.

Re: ABS Warning light
I think it is normal. It probably happens because when one wheel spins out, the ABS sensors generate signals that do not make sense to the ABS ECU (e.g. three wheels stationary, while one wheel sensor measures a large rotation speed). This would not happen on a traction control equipped vehicle.

I agree with GL - it is quite normal for the ABS to switch out at times - as long as it resets when you restart the car.

If it stays on, it is faulty.

Mine (Gen 2) does it too - albeit not more than (say) once a month.

Our Pajero does the same - execpt that the owners manual says that the light comes on when you repeatly press the brakes.. its a warning to inform you that you are over using the brakes :D .

How acurate that is I don't know, but since then we have made a point of it not to overdue it and the ABS warning light hasnt come on again.
