.......towing down van Zyl's Pass.....

Tell us more! Most people advise against it! :o Haven't done that, so I'm curious.

Re: Earning its keep
I found towing down van Zyl's much easier than expected. Given a trailer that has the same or better ground clearance than the tow car one can virtually ignore the trailer behind. It will follow the same tracks as the car. (Provided the wheel distances are the same). Van Zyl's is rough but not really steap. It is downhill mainly, so traction is not so important. It would be impossible to do van Zyl's up with any trailer on tow. Even solo would be a major challange. However if you wish to tackle this route with a trailer be sure it is of decent quality and made for off-road. Ps. My son accompanied us on this tour and he towed a Jurgens Oryx down with a Hilux at the same time.

Great photos!! Good to see some more Gen3 Pajero owners out there that use the vehicles to their full potential!.

Hope to meet you 'under the tree' somewhere in the bush one day :)

Re: Earning its keep
Please let me know what the details are on that bullbar. My boss has just bought a pajero like yours but needs a bumper.

Thanks
Re: Earning its keep
Hi Marius,

What you see on my car is a nudgebar from Frontrunner in Kyalami. I understand they no longer carry this item but I’m sure if you phone around you will find similar products from other dealers.

It really is only a cosmetic item and is worth nothing as a bumper. The support brackets are just too flimsy. Frontrunner would obviously love to sell you a complete off-road replacement bumper if you wish!

Re: Earning its keep
Hi ePikanini,

Maxis Makes them in Stainless steel and I got mine from Safari Centre
I had an additional bracket desighed that they(Maxis) made for me afterwards that I fit the spots on as I do not want the spots to protrude beyond the bumber

Hope this helps

Re: Earning its keep
Hi Bigwill, I like your photos, it looks like a lot of fun, but I’m sure there must have been a Toyota involved somehow!
Thank The Man
Re: Earning its keep
Strange The Man should mention that. With the backup of a Pajero the Totota could also boast with a successful completion.
