Not having the service pit I had in JHB before retiring to Robertson, I decided to build myself a pair of strong ramps to enable getting under my Pajero, either front or rear. The ramp section is 50 cm long and the top flat section also 50cm long while the height is 30cm and the width 35 cm. Each ramp used two full 6m lengths of 25 mm square x 1.6 mm tubing. I cut all the pieces on my cut-off machine (which uses a toothed blade rotating at 700 rpm with coolant flowing.) The mitre angles can be accurately set, so tacking the ramp together before final welding was easy.
However, I am unsteady these days, so my welding was slow and bad. So I took them to a local welder with a MIG outfit and he did both ramps for R200. Then they were sand blasted and I sprayed them with self-etch primer and then enamel. I wanted to enclose photos of them but have been unable to do so. Clicking on 'Img' above gets me nowhere! And Johan V's instructions in FAQ don't seem to apply to posts in any of the Topics.

I am sure I saw your car a while ago - the number seems familiar. You don't have a club sticker on, do you?

Now to check the valve clearances of my 2006 4M41 motor. I don't know when last this was done having bought the car at 150,000 km. "FSH" doesn't tell me that! It has now done over 170,000 km so I feel that they should be checked. The question is HOW to access the crankshaft pulley bolt?

Just one thing: I notice that your Paj is missing the front bash plate, thus leaving the intercooler quite exposed. Perhaps you should look into getting a proper aftermarket steel skid plate from the front all the way under the engine?

Gerrit, I have the original cover plates, now somewhat modified by an unbelievably bad Lesotho road. My son's Landcruiser 100VX with Ole Man Emu suspension and large BFG Mud Terrain tyres got through OK. The Pajero is indeed a "soft off-roader"! But it goes so well that I love it!
Here is a photo of my setup for getting the vehicle level to check diff and transter box oil levels.
