Hi
Has anybody checked whether it is possible to fit 16" rims to the BK Pajero (standard 17")? It looks like there is too little clearance between front caliper and rim to go down one size.
I have read about the torque converter lockup being effected by running higher profile tyres but would love to go to a 70 profile instead of the original 65, although I am very worried about the effect on fuel consumption specifically. Has anybody put on 265/70/17's, who can give me an idea of changes experienced re performance and fuel consumption? It would automatically add 12mm ground clearance.
Are all brands of tyres of certain size exactly the same size? I had Muds/ All Terrains (same size 30x9.5x15) of a specific brand on my Syncro and required some grinding to get the Muds fitted. BF's in general look a little bigger than most to me.

Hi Henk,
I want to do the same as you with the /70 profile, but would like to hear more about the torque converter lockup story. I cann't see any reason for that to happen. Tyre manufacturers only warn you about not going more than 3% oversize as it can influance your braking performance.

fuel consumption may go one way or the other depending on your driving style.
The TC will be affected but not by much. You will find that it unlocks easier especially on an uphill or when towing.
The gearbox will adapt to the new size tyres.

BK (Gen 4) does not take the 16".
Been there and tried that. Spent some time with Cristo and tried his mags on my mine...
The caliper is just too big:( unfortunatly
Its a real pity though, as the 17's are damn expensive.
