Dueler A/T versus
Hi guys.
Before i fit the duelers would somebody try and convince me otherwise. Going to Botswana in Aug and want to know if the dueler H/T will do it or not. Still have 10 to 15 k milage thread. Some good ratings from some of you on Hankooks and other like BFG;s I am confused as i think that dueler A/T's are good but are R2500,00 a tyre in my area. Your advise. pajero greetings

Hennie,

We did a poll here: POLL: Tyre Brand Preferences, and you will find usefull comments there as well.

You will see that Hankooks are "up there" with the top brands, but AFAIK comes cheaper...

I do not know about other brands than bf or duelers but I am not shy to admit if I have made a mistake. My bfs had a safe 10k at least left on them but I had a trip to the Kalahari and did not want to fool around as we were going to do some serious off roading.

I fitted a set of dueler ats and they performed very well, in sand and I mean thick loose sand, they performed brilliantly, never debeading at very low pressure and giving perfect control. In the rocky areas I could not fault them and I think they even helped me to hide some of my own mistakes.
On the black top however it is a different story. The Pajero seems to wallow at normal pressures and feels unstable almost as if it was overloaded with too low tyre pressure but the worst is when the road is wet then it is slip sliding all over the show and the normal stopping distance is double if you want to remain safe.

I am not so unhappy that I will throw them out but once they reach the end of their life I will go back to any brand as long as it is BF ATs. It is a small patch of rubber between my back and the tar and I do not like to fool about with it. The only negative I have had with the bfs were that they would probably only have done 80 -90k
