I have been experiencing this irritating noise while applying brakes and the mechanic tells me that the noise is because of the faulty sphere valve. Is this the same as the brake accumulator and what would be the replacement cost of the same?

Does it sound like a chirpy little bird whistle? If yes, then it is the same thing. Cost is about R2000 I think but try and see if it is not still to be replaced under the recall that was issued some time ago.
