The 'looks' were of secondary importance.
The aim was to reduce the sun's reflection off that flat bonnet.
PS
Slagboom is no real challenge for the Pajero, except one place where a group "dug" a hole ±0.75m deep and 1m across on a loose rocky climb. (For those who know Slagboom, it is the climb going uphill from the two concrete reservoirs)
We drove it down-hill, which was easy.
I then turned around and tried it going uphill.
The absence of diff lock made it tricky (like in "no-can-do").
The trail was to narrow to drive around it, so one wheel fell into the hole, making the opposite rear wheel lift rather high, with the resultant "no-diff lock" loss of traction.
The evidence on the climb suggested that there was a lot of winching IAC, so I did not feel that badly.
5mins with a spade should have made it passable.
The rest was more like dodging branches (scratches) than worrying about the trail.
