If you are willing, bring the vehicles and I will show you what and where. You can take pics and do a writeup for the sticky. We'll have a braai and make a lekker Saturday,
just say when. That way you will learn what to do, which tools to have handy, and we can look at some other technical stuff in and under the car.
Cheers

Jotto,
Thanks that is a very generous offer, have got few miles to go yet, but will setup a date when you have some time and if Kennekam is keen too that would be great too!
Will PM once back and see what will suit all.
Cheers
David

I'm from Australia and have the same problem over here.
I was quoted AU$820 to redo my brakes (Rebuild front calipers, machine 4 discs and new pads all round.
I did it my self for AU$230.

I think you need to find an alternate stealer. My 135000km service cost me R 1866.99 at the local Mitsubishi agents.Kennekam wrote:...135k service and it cost me R4296.65!
where are you from Dean? or rather where is your local stealer
Hi Charlie100Charlie100 wrote:where are you from Dean? or rather where is your local stealer
Service was done by Garden City Motors in Pietermaritzburg.
Dean Garden City must love you, my 100000 cost R4411.35 > 90000 cost R3193.90 & 80000 cost R4415.55.
Just purchased filters to do the 110 myself R710 from the agents vs R380 for the local spares shop.
Strange thing being that Ferodo brake pads are R885 vs R745 from the agents?

Those charges are exorbitant!Kennekam wrote:Help! I love my Pajero, but the servicing costs are driving me up the wall. My 2005 GLS DiD has just been in for its 135k service and it cost me R4296.65! Nothing other than changing the fluids and a few filter. Some prices: fuel filter R319.50, labour R1512.00, engine oil R505.52, air filter R284.00, diff oil R389.50 and so it goes.... Three weeks ago it cost me over R5k just for disk pads and skim.
My Audi was in for its major annual service and it cost only R2.5k including fluids and filters.
How do you guys cope?
I suggest you filter through these recomendations, and pick one. Tell him where you got his detail (group pressure works!):
