Hi All,

I posted this on 4x4 Community a while ago as well.

My Pajero has been giving me 7.6km/l max, and that was on the highway or in town, doesn't make a differance.

A lot of guys said change injectors and check diesel pump, other guys said we must look at the not so expensive stuff first.

I've taken it to a guy to check the CAT ( Already removed ), he checked filters, and he also checked the valve clearances and cleaned intercooler.
It feels as if the Pajero is more lively but by the looks of it, is not better on consumption. I've done about 239km and it is almost touching half guage.

Guys, what else can I do if this didn't work out, the Pajero doesn't smoke a lot.

Then have the injectors cleaned (Luckily mine was cleaned for free and I can already feel the change in performance) - albeit I had to remove and reinstall them.

I had mine cleaned a few days ago and they were still in good condition except for 2 that had some nozzles slightly blocked creating a poor spray pattern. He just opened them, cleaned them and sent me on my way. Other than that you can maybe slightly advance the pump to compensate for slight wear of the pump and slight drop in compression due to possible old age of rings leaking a bit of compression.

A/C (rear A/C on unnecessa back.Its prob on all the time for the twins at the back.
what engine oil weight are you using? - The guy I bought it from said that he only used Delo 400 since 100 000km[

My wife just filled up 7km/l

We've been to Kungwini on Saturday so I'm hoping that the 4x4 used so much diesel.

I'm going to my parents se weekend so it will be about 300km round trip. Will fill up again to see if its better.

Filled up this morning again after trip to parents.

I got 8.5km/l driving nothing faster that 120km/h on speedo.
I check with GPS, when I'm driving 120 on the speedo it show 112km/h on gps is. Is this about right?

Drop 10km/h and you will see further improvement in consumption (my 2c anyway).

I drive everywhere at around 110kph and usually get at least 10km/l

Wrt to the speedo, as far as I can remember, there is usually a difference of around 4 to 5kph between my gps and speedo readings.

I Don't have a roofrack or any accesesories on the Pajero

I mostly get about 8.5KM/L with mine. It also don't seem to make that much of a difference if i stick to 120 or 140.
I did notice that I get a bit more KM if I use to 500PPM diesel.

FUEL CONSUMPTION

In Jan 2011 we drove from JHB to Robertson on the N12 without roof rack or trailer. I filled up in Woodmead, JHB, and drove to Potchefstroom in rain, so a bit slowly, then in good weather at 120 km/h with air conditioner on, to a Hopetown B&B for the night. The next day on to Three Sisters. The trip odometer read 954 km and we took 90.24 litres giving 9.46 litres/100km. The fuel warning light had come on at about 40 km before Three sisters but I reckoned that there just had to be at least four litres left!

On filling up in Robertson the overall trip consumption was 9.46 l/100km. I was surprised and delighted.
