Mine is a 2005 model. Maybe phone Dastek Pretoria?

the gen4 is common rail and the gen3 is injection pump.
In terms of chips there as a HUGE difference.
The actual chip manufacturing costs next to nothing. We pay for the research and development for making them.
It always starts out expensive to recuperate the costs but after a while the price drops.
DDR3 RAM in a computer is a far more complex chip than the chips we use in our car but due to the existing research and development and sheer bulk of production they are considerably cheaper. Even still, I think chips are far too bloody expensive IMHO for what they cost from R&D to consumer.

I know the SAC's chip made for the Gen2.5 V6 cannot be transferred to the Gen 3.2DID(along with the Toyota KZ-TE) - they differ according to SAC.
About 2 years ago the Gen2.5's chip cost about R3250 and while at the same time the chip for the Gen3 DID was R5500. I could not transfer my Gen2.5's chip and decided not to fork out R5500 for antoher one on the 3.2DID.

I also have a Dustek chip in my 3.2 for the last two years. When I was down at the coast with the caravan, the engine management light came on which gave a warning that the Turbo was over boosting(waste gate)I removed the unichip, the light did not came on again and did not feel any change in power afterwards.I also inspect the vacuum pipes on the waste gate but they were all good!!!
With Chipping you'll find much more power, especially when you want to do dune driving where you'll be needing those extra revs.
This is definitely on my wish list!
After plenty of reading on the subject and talking to mechanics and people who have done the chipping, this is my conclusion.
According to SAC the engine will run cooler with the chip installed. This can only be true if you drive the same speed as before chipping and the engine now runs at slightly lower revs due to better and optimized stuff the chip does. This will then also explain possible better fuel consumption.
If, however, the fact that the vehicle has more power inspire you to drive faster and more aggressive, the opposite of the above becomes true. If you drive like this for a prolonged period, thus overworking the engine constantly, it cannot be good for the engine.
So IMHO if you want the chip for more power to use for occasional overtaking and dune driving, go for it. If the chip is going to change your driving style to a dragster, you are going to have problems to solve later.
Please comment on the above as this is not based, as I would have preferred, on practical experience.
