Thanks for your timely posts. I have officially pulled the plug on the Pajero. Freek said the vehicle sounded ok after his assessment (noisy lifters and the 4x4 switch sticking) but he could not confirm for sure whether this was the vehicle that had the wiring problem with the fuel regulator issue and he did tell me that when they had redone the head and one cylinder that the current owner had told him to only do the minimum necessary to get it up and running as he was going to sell it. Not the type of maintenance mindset I would want from someone whose used vehicle I was thinking of purchasing!
Sometime, your experience with the same vehicle and your input was very helpful and Fouche nailed my internal struggles. Coupled that with some very good input from my father in law (retired mechanical engineer and a gearhead all of his life, though not here in SA) and that helped make the decision!
There is always another car has been my rule of thumb for many years and I almost forgot that in my desire to have the Paj and get rid of my current ride. Members of this forum helped steer me back to the correct course! Many Thanks!
