Hi - OK, so I have decided to keep the Pajero and not fall for the new one. But now I want to kit her out a bit and am looking at fitting a drawer system. Safari Centre quotes me R14 000 for an African Outback system - I used to have one in my Colt and love their products. The quality is good and the layout practical. My one concern, however, is my fridge. I have an 80L Engel which is 551cm high. It also cannot fit into the back of the Pajero length wise, so it has to fit width wise. Apparently the Outback drawer system does not cater for this. An option is to fit a fridge slide on top of the drawer system to take the Engel but I am not too keen on that, mainly due to the practicalities if the system is not in use. What do Pajero owners, generally, go for - drawer system and fridge wise. I am notoriously impractical, not mechanically minded and lazy so building my own system is not an option I would love to hear what the other guys do.
Buy a smaller Engel, your's is five and a half metres high
Jokes aside, I'll be watching this post, because my Pajero must also grow a beard in my posession and my Zero is a bulky 70L machine and a drawer system is on the (distant) cards.

R14k is a LOT of money for a drawer system, no matter how well it works, and does it give you access to the 3d-row seat cavity?
Try SarelF (4x4Community forum) from 'Blinkgat' products if he can make you something for less money, his work is well respected judged by comments and he's got good ideas for difficult problems.
How about a frame where your fridge is loaded first and the frame giving you rack space above the fridge, if you have a slide then you can slide it out to open it, and when not in use it would still give you access to the 3d-row cavity while the frame/rack is in place.

I build mine from Connect-It and Marine Board coverd with auto mat.
On 4x4 community is a number of examples and i got detailed measurements from Davidvan.
Th big challenge was to rtain the "3rd row seat" space in the load bay. Th solution was quite easy as the drawer has a removable floor allowing quick access to the bay.
My done 2 big trips now - Kubu Island and Faces of the Namib and i am quite impressed how it stood up to the rigours. There are a few squecking noices,
Some photos is attached.
You are welcome to pay me a visit or chat to me on detail on the packing system.

If your drawer system has 2 drawers side by side, then the central support of the drawers blcoks access to the fuel pump access panel in the floor.
Then if you need to get to the pump you need to remove the tank. And disconnecting/re-connecting the pipes & cables on top of the tank is a REAL challenge.

My design requirement is that the packing system must be able to be removed within half an hour. It takes me 10 minutes to take my current one out.Barry Grewcock wrote:Good morning forum
