Radio wiring for Gen 3
Can anybody help me with a wiring diagram for the radio in a 2004 3.2 DID? I am replacing the standard radio with a Jensen DVD player, and have done the mechanical bits, but have trouble finding the wiring info. I don't have a workshop manual (yet!) , and the results from the www are very confusing.

Thanks!

Have you looked at this site?

Alternatively I suppose you will have to visit your frienly radio installer...

Hi GertM,
Thanks for your replies. In the meantime I got a website from a friend where I found the info I needed. Eventually I had most of the wire splicing done by my friendly radio installer, but did the physical installation and some minor wiring changes myself.

I wasn't fond of the idea of installing a single din DVD player in a 4x4 vehicle which quite often travels over corrugated roads, as the pop-out screen seems to have too many moving parts that can be shaken apart. The solution of how to fit a double din unit came from the same friend mentioned above. It is easy to move the aircon/heater/fresh air control panel down to the gap where the CD changer is removed. This leaves a nice big space for the double din unit.

Re: Radio wiring for Gen 3
I replaced my gen3 with a jvc.

I used a voltmeter to trace the correct wires.

It was a lengthy process but not too difficult for someone with moderate electrical experience.

The radio shops can provide a harness that plugs into your existing harness/plug and into the back of any aftermarket radio, in Secunda it goes for about R120-00 a piece.

Got my JVC, looks simular to the Sony above with the correct harness to fit my blister in the sealed JVC box(at sabers trichardt), don't know whether the gen3 differs.
You can however use a multimeter to test the wires except speaker positives which is a bit more difficult. the negatives on the speakers I believe is common(though I might be wrong)
