I'd go for a 29Mhz radio... VHF aren't yet mainstream enough, but you will need to go through licencing. Contact Family_Dog for advice , but read this article first

Hi everyone....

I have a problem... Unfortunately, due to some serious work commitments, it is highly likely I will be unable to make this meet (I am also without a set of usable tyres). Now, this is not to say that I need to be there myself, but we could consider moving it a couple of weeks. I know others would be quite keen because they cannot make this date either.
