Would you recommend the following;
1. Safari 4x4 Tyre monitoring system, been fitted in the tires. Price R3464, as been fitted to the special "bush Pajero"
2. Compressor fitted in the engine bay for R4680 by stealers
I have one of the portable ones, a big one, but jeewiz, it take allot of space. So I thought the one in the engine bay will take no extra space.
I think the price for the TPMS is a bit high, even assuming it has 4 sender units AND you need as many sender units as you have road wheels + spares if they are internally fitted senders. You only need to monitor the road wheels, but when you replace a road wheel with a spare (eg experience a flat) you need to know that the replaced tyre is monitored - not doing so nearly resulted in a very nasty accident for me earlier this year.smoller wrote:Would you recommend the following;

I now have senders on all 4 road wheels and on 2 spares.
Hi - I have had Tyredog for a number of years and have it on two different vehicles. What ever brand you chose, I recommend you buy the external sensor version as you can swap the sensor to the spare as needed. One tyre saved, pays back the cost of the unit - been there done that - blew a tyre in Prince Albert pass on a Saturday pm and then Tyredog picked up a puncture in my only spare in the middle of Baviaans Kloof on Sunday. Repaired puncture with plug and got to ADDO and then PE on Monday to replace blown tyre - try and get a 17" over a weekend.
I have the TireMoni system I bought back in 2010 for R 1790 and it has worked like a charm. External units and I often swap it to other vehicles if the need arises. They have been underwater on numerous occasions when driving through flooded Okavango and Mozambique and no problems. My advise go the external units.
I also have a large portable compressor as no space in the engine bay as I have fitted a dual battery system. You can see this on the forum https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =27&t=4669
