Hi, I hope somebody can help me. I want to travel from Himeville Kzn to Harrismith via Bergville on the backroads. My Tom-tom gps does not cover the route that I want to take. I found the route on Google-earth and have plotted the route with the gps co-ordinates that I found through google-earth. But then I used a friend's garmin just to check on the gps co-ordinates and found the co-ordinates to not correspond with the actual road on the Garmin gps. Of the 20 co-ordinates that I plotted, only four correspond to a point on the route according to the Garmin gps. The rest of the co-ordinates is either left or right of the road in the field. The question now is this: how will this off-line gps co-ordinates affect my travelling on the correct route. This is a very senic route and I really want to do this trip. Please advise. Thnxs
maybe your tomtom is compatible with this?

Do you have an android phone or tablet that you can load Google Earth or MotionX on?

Thnxs for the reply, but the route as suggested by 4ePikanini is not the route I want to take. If you use the proposed road for walking on google earth, that's the way I want to go.
I will try the google-earth to tom-tom convertion link, Thnxs.

If the points are not too far off I dont think it will affect you that much. I mean you are gonna travel on existing tracks are you not? Thus the road will tend to lead you in the correct general direction.

Have you checked that GPS co-ordinate setting on Google maps is the same as the setting on your GPS. Many people have this problem when use co-ordinates and do not use the same format.
Try this web site if necessary http://www.gpscoordinates.eu/convert-gp ... inates.php
Hope this helps.
