Hi Guys,
Im looking for a set of 15" Rims for a Gen 3 Pajero,
Im upgrading from Gen 2 to a Gen 3, but looking at taking my Mud terrains across, which are 15", any ideas?
AFAIK Gen 3s came with 16" and later 17" rims.
Surely 15" rims would not suit the gear ratios?
Surely 15" rims would not suit the gear ratios?
I'm not so sure that would be an issue,
I imagine gear ratios are affected by Outside diameters, and not rim size.
I'm looking to refit my 31x10.5 Cooper STTs, and also like the fact that 15's have more fat.
I may even go up to a 32 x 10.5 on my next set, so if anything, the end result would be bigger, not smaller.

as far as I know, only certain 15" steel rims will fit.
15" alloys will not fit over the calipers.

15inch Nissan Patrol steel rims fit with a bit of grinding apparently on the brake calipers. Benhur did it on his Gen3 some years ago when he still had the Pajero on all 4 wheels.
Here is the thread with the 15inch rims and 33inch tyres
on. Unfortunately the pictures do not show anymore but the youtube video is still up I think.

Just remember going as big as 33 with the auto is gonna lead to issues. I have 32 inch tyres on my Gen3 but it is a manual so not really hassle.

Thanks,
Yes, Im following Johns lead on this, as I'm looking at buying a 3.8 SWB, and doing what hes done, ito fitting read diff, and switches for the EC.
He has also replaced his 16" rims with 15s, but has obviously reccommended that I check that they fit properly 1st.
and yes, I dont think I'll be switching to 33's, max I'll go is 32's.
Hmm, I'm like a kid just before Christmas now, waiting for the Pajero to get back to the dealer so I can check it out, and if all goes well, BUY it.

Well, I finally decided to stick to the standard rims, and break with my original trend, and thus, have purchased a set of BFG A/Ts, although, I went up to 32" and so far theyve been great, did Outrekpad a month ago, followed by paradise 4x4 in wilderness, and Vleesbaai this past week, and theyre incredible, although, I havent really used them at low pressure with slightly higher speeds yet.
As for the whole question of 15's fitting over the brake calipers, yes, I managed to find a few sets of Alloy rims that completely clear the callipers, the 15j7's dont fit, but 15j8's do fit.
Thanks for the input and questions put forward on the subject, now we know for those who ever want to fit 15's.
