Hi all,

So I am at the point where I want to move into a double cab and after having 165,000 happy kilometres behind the wheel of my Pajero the obvious choice is a Triton

The Pajero has most of the essential extras fitted and only 179,000 km on the odo so obviously it still runs like clockwork.

So the question is - how easily would a 2007 Gen3 GLX sell in the private market? If I had to price it at around R160k privately would it sell? Or should I be a good boy and listen to the dealer and accept less than trade value?

Ah! Decisions, decisions!

Any advice folks?

Hi Bruce, I deal in used Pajero's in CT. If it is a neat car with not much spend, it should be a quick private sale. The used market preference is for the GLS, but at the right price the GLX's do sell. Where are you based? Feel free to call me 021-8530999 o/h Regards Derrick

I recently sold my GLX, After the shock of being offered 50g below trade from the dealer, I decided to sell privately. Sold within 3 days for just above trade price.

Here are the book values for you precious. (Hope I have the right one)
Typically the dealer should offer you something around trade, but it is always way under this for some reason. Retail is the value that they generally sell it for.

If you have the time and patience, sell it privately. It might not go in the first day, but you will get more value out of it that way. Incidentally, the extras fitted to the vehicle have almost no value once fitted! Yea, it might help close the deal, but a prospective buyer is not going to fork out that extra R 12 000 for the roof rack.

Those book values are for a Gen4. Biggish has a gen3 GLX (2001-2007) shape, so will be slightly less than those quoted.

Thanks for the feedback.
Correct, mine is the Gen3 - and strangely the trade and retail of the Gen3 are slightly higher than the Gen 4 for the same year (2007). I thought I had misread it at first

So I am getting my mind around selling it privately and will probably go ahead late in March as I need a 4x4 during the fist 2 weeks of March and definitely don't want to be caught out without one.
