Hi guys
I hope some of you have noticed the new series of articles in WegRy/Drive Out regarding buying second hand vehicles and also telling the story about each vehicle.
So far we have covered the Wrangler, Defender, Cruiser 80 and Patrol... Obviously the Pajero needs to be next.
So what I need is to get the guys who know the story/history of the Pajero in SA as well as the guys with the technical knowledge about the various engines and derivatives so that we can compile the article from your knowledge.
If anybody is keen to help, drop me a mail at gerrie@wegry.co.za
Thanks
Gerrie, I am sure you will find many members with good info.

Thanks to the guys who already responded. I should say that the more guys respond, the better the article will be. And the more complete it will be. More eyes spot mistakes or gaps better.
So bearing that in mind, which generation do you think would be best to cover? With the Land Cruiser we did the 80 Series (1990 - 1997), the Patrols are the GU and GQ (1994 - 2003) the Defender (1990 - 2006 - keep in mind that the design never changed).
So second generation would be a good start, I think. But how many of them are still on the road and available second hand? The main aim of the article is to show prospective second hand buyers what they can get for their money, so it is pointless to focus on something that is not even sold anymore?

Gerrie, 4epajero is 100% right in terms of value for money & capability (Gen 2 and Gen 2.5), but you can't ignore the later models either. The Gen 3 appeared in RSA 2000/2001 and was superseded by the Gen 4 in 2007, I think (so 2007 is a year when there were both Gen 3 & Gen 4).4ePajero wrote:IMHO, considering the price Gen2 Pajeros go for, that has to be the focus of a value-for-money article.
There are many available on the 2nd hand market.
I am happy to contribute some input on Gen 3 operation & repairs / what to look for, what to service etc. You are welcome to PM me.
