Cmon guys!
We wouldn't like to see Gerrie posting something like this, would we?
"Can I put the cat among the pigeons and say that I did not struggle to find guys to help when I did the Defender article? "
If you have the knowledge / experience or if you love your Pajero, and believe it's the best thing since sliced bread, stick your hand up and help Gerrie with this article!
I mailed Gerrie just now. Let me know what I can share. I know a fair bit on Gen3 and Gen4.

OK guys, I mailed the okes who responded to me the questions, but have not had the responses needed.
I will post the questions here as well, let's see if I can get a good response on this going.
Where did Mitsubishi start? When did they start making cars?
When was the first Pajero made?
What was the time line for the first gen Pajero? From when to when was it produced?
Was it LWB or SWB only or a combination? What did the first ones look like?
The history of the Pajero and Dakar?
When did the second generation start? What model ranges and derivatives are there? (Specifically only in SA, not looking at imports).
How do you distinguish between the different models?
How is the chassis and suspension different?
What extra’s did you get with the vehicles? What came as standard and what was optional?
Now for the indepth knowledge:
If you are looking at buying one second hand, what should you look out for?
Was there certain models that are prone to problems? Certain components that are prone to failure? Certain upgrades that were made in factory to negate these faults?
What are the advantages of driving a Pajero? What are the disadvantages?
What can you expect to pay for a gen 2 Pajero?
Who are the guru’s in Cape Town and Joburg that can help a prospective buyer to look through a the vehicle?

Gerrie,
Look at the links in the second post of this thread. Most of the history / background can be found there.
Also look at these web pages:
Mitsubishi history
Mitsu Wiki
The Pajero Dakar success story is documented here King of the Desert
When time allows, I'll try answering more of your questions.

Ok guys, I started on the links provided. Now, I need the Gen 2 experts.
Following this link https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... f=52&t=984
Is it correct to assume that there were almost 16 different models available (that is not even counting the manual vs auto distinctions?)?
Is there soemone who could perhaps tell me what mdoels were available in SA during this time?

Gerrie. Please will you acknowledge us as a forum for your source of info, and that we will have permission to link to, or reproduce the info at some stage?
Simon Bloomer
Sure, but then I will need to get some decent info. The info provided in the links are contradictory, and the guys that I e-mailed for responses have not responded yet - a week later.SimonB wrote:Gerrie.
