You could do worse!

1.) Is it normal that there is a small loom with a 2-way plug in the middle under the passengers seat?

That could be the seat heater loom.

2.) Has anyone ever replaced the tape deck with an aftermarket frontloader? and then what happens to the onboard display and 6 cd shuttle?
The tape deck is just very outdated but my dad doesnt want to lose the 6 cd shuttle.

Mine is a bit earlier and does not have the 6 CD shuttle. But Yes, lots of threads here and on the Aussie Pajero site and the UK pajero site. With the right head units and correct standard looms (don't go cutting!) you can do very nice replacements - I am sure someone else will come along and give you more info.

Thanks for all the positive response. Really useful information. We're really enjoying the vehicle. Question: Recently we were driving up a slight slope (tar) and my Dad noticed the engine oil level light came on. Shortly afterwards it was off. Checked the oil level and it was perfect. Is this a dumb sensor that's playing up? t gives one quite a scare when you see a oil light come on while driving - no matter how brief!!

If its the orange light then fill the oil with about 500ml more oil.

If its the red one. pull over and check for major oil leaks.

Assuming it is the orange oil LEVEL and not the red oil PRESSURE light you may need to keep the oil level a few mm above the full mark on the dipstick to prevent having a heart attack.

Otherwise this may happen when the engine is cold as you start to go up an incline, 5 - 10 minutes into your first trip of the day.

i had the red oil light come on while i was driving a year or so ago. not the nicest feeling.

Pulled over and it looked like an oil tanker struck the engine bay. The pressure sensor failed. (pulled the dipstick and oil were barely visible on the tip of the dipstick, this was like 500metres) When its RED, PULL OVER!!



Had the orange one come on couple times 2 weeks back, usually 5min after start up (after standing 8hours). filled it and not yet appeared again.

Would suggest that you do the oil pressure sensor as a service item and keep an extra one in the glove compartment.
I have both our Pajero's changed every second service.

The oil level light is very sensitive on the 3.2 DID . DO not add more than 500ml!

If is is going on and off, you will see the dipstick will show almost full. You will also notice that it is even more prevalent in winter when the oil is colder. This engine takes almost 8 litres of oil when changing filter as well.

As long as it does not stay on, you are fine.
