Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
I was quite busy this weekend, I did a front left upper ball joint as there was some play, I replaced the rear brake pads as they were shuddering due to a seized guide pin causing the pad to wear off skew, and a starter motor solenoid...

The solenoid was a tad trickier than anticipated due to the aftermarket unit having to be rotated 180° and the lug extended with some 4mm^2 wiring... I almost burnt the coil out before I figured out my mistake, it was by that stage too hot to hold by hand...

The Mitsubishi solenoid and the "generic".

Notice the two big terminals are differently linked to coil inside. The lug on the OEM solenoid sits outboard and the generic sits inboard when fitted to the starter motor, thus I had to extend it to reach the loom connection without shorting the big terminal out that is supplied from the battery positive.

Mitsubishi quoted me R1300 for a new solenoid, I almost fell off my chair... I can't believe they charge that much for a part that is so cheap to manufacture. You can buy a brand new starter for that price, albeit not from the agents.
I found a solenoid at http://www.Trysome.cc
They are auto electrical specialists, for R211. It fits mazda, Hyundai, and some mitsubishi models.

Did a few mods over the last few weeks:

> Installed air helpers
> Got a TPMS (what can I say - I like gadgets)
> Finally changed by Dueller HT tyres for Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA tyres - looks so much better :) Road noise about the same! I was worried the AT would be much louder than the HT

Thanks.
Once I can see an opening from deadlines I will call and make an arrangement to meet. Best regards

Getting there slowly but surely. Yesterday I removed the factory roof bars and installed heavy duty rails on the roof for my new rack. The rack is also coming along and now weighs only 23.8kg.
Installed a Safari snorkel today. Still have to install the diff and gearbox breathers before she can go back together.
The roof rack should be done in a week or so. Still waiting for some components to come back from the chrome platers. Can't wait to finish the roof rack and deep water modifications.

5400kg (12000lb) Winch now hiding behind the front bumper. We installed both hard wire control as well as remote control systems and rotated the gearbox 90° for easy access to the freewheel lever. The hard wire plug is located inside the cab for easy and safe access.
Bracket was designed and built not to interfere with the crash cans like the commercially available units. Air bag impact sensors also untouched, so functioning as per design.

Last week I got a USB cable, whoopydoo...

.. for my Pajero,

.... for its new management system,

...... for the V8

:D

Having read Spitronics allows for easy tuning, I am completely amazed by the easy of use and I am already starting to feel like a pro. I am yet to be brave and built a new map from scratch, but I am enjoying fiddling almost as much as driving my Pajero (aka 4x4 Interceptor).

I got the cable as I hope to have it running more economical ;)

I removed the 2.5 4D56 motor on my 1985 Pajero and today I removed the auto gearbox and transfer box. I have a question about the shaft I discovered on the right side of the auto box. (left of white arrow) It isn't connected to anything and has a loose plate on it as well. Any ideas?
