When was the Rear Diff Lock dropped by Mitsubishi ? Year, Month or Model ? That is on 3.2 LWB

My understanding of Centre Diff Lock is that in reality it only brings the Traction Control into action.

2012/13 No Rear Diff Lock but am I right in saying it was brought back in March '14

It is very difficult to obtain the historical Specifications including last few years. Imperial/Mitsubishi don't know !!

According to the Salesmen they are all 4x4 .

What accessories will Warranty permit ?
Extra L R Fuel tank, where can it fit and how can it integrate with existing tank ?

You'll be lucky to find a salesman on any garage floor that knows his technical stuff. A few years ago I was sat in a new Pajero on a show room floor. Asked the salesman about diff-lock, he said there is one. I looked for the button and failed to find it. Then he said it engages automatically when you engage low range. I didn't believe him, but tried it any way and the rear diff light stayed out. He then phoned the workshop manager who helped him right with the info that the GLS doesn't have one.

1)Pajeros have been equipped with rear diff-lock (RDL) since before the turn of the century. In 2004 the GLS models lost the RDL and got traction and stability control, but the GLX models kept the RDL. I know that some new GLS models do have the RDL, but I really don't know if anything changed in March this year.

2)The centre diff lock does not have ANY impact on the traction control. It is what it says: a lock on the centre diff. The Pajero has a diff in the transfer box, that allows you to engage 4x4 and still have the ability to drive on tar and such. In that mode it performs like a normal permanent four wheel drive SUV. When you lock that centre diff, then the 4x4 mode becomes like that on any normal 4x4 bakkie.

Traction control is always active and has only one purpose: to apply braking force to any wheel that loses traction and starts to spin, this allows driving force to go to the wheels with traction. Stability control is an added feature to the traction control. It is much more "intelligent" and keeps an eye on things like speed, lateral G-forces, steering angle and such. If the computer thinks you are going to lose control it takes over. Brake force is supplied to selected wheels and the engine power is reduced as well. The stability control can be turned off, but not the traction control.

Yip, all Pajeros are 4x4 - but be on the lookout as I believe there are a few 4x2 Pajero Sport models about.

As far as accessories go: I think best would be to source the desired accessory first, and then sort it out with the dealers. It stands to reason that any accessory that requires mechanical or electrical alterations to your car can void the warranty. The Pajero does have a tow hitch plug under the boot compartment, so fitting a tow hitch doesn't require tampering with the wiring.

When I got my 2008 Gen 4, it was one of three identical ones in the Mitsu lot.

Mine had roof rails and diff lock.
The other one had no roof rails, and diff lock
and the third no roof rails and no diff lock....

All three were identical GLX models.......

I asked and the sales guy said its Japan who just send them all mixed up like that.....

From late 2013 the GLS came with RDL as standard. Not sure exactly when, but was told my the agents that all 2014 models come with RDL. This being the agents, this probably means that that new stock has RDL and the old stock not, regardless of when they register it!
