Pajero Club Gauteng Big Bash 'Launch'
It has happened and in my book it was a humongous success. Congratulations to Christo for putting together this great event and to all the parties and sponsors who joined in a very big thank you.

The venue was the Protea Echo Adventures training ground in the Krugersdorp game reserve and turned out to be the perfect choice and all that attended had a most enjoyable afternoon. Entrance at the main gate went without a hitch but as we got closer to the reception area we saw a group of pajeros parked and puled in next to them, this turned out to be a slight hiccup that was soon rectified after a phone call to Christo set us on the right track. (Men never get lost we just take the scenic route)

Arriving at the venue we were greeted by Janie Rykaart and Christo where the formalities were taken care of. The parking lot was a sight for sore eyes, overflowing with Pajeros.

After a short welcoming speech by Christo

Jannie briefed everybody on the route we would be taking and the best way to tackle it.

Then it was time to take a leisurely drive through the reserve.

It was a long "snake" of Pajeros through the reserve.

Some of the inhabitants were not impressed and just lay there watching.

At the turn point one could apreciate the extent of participation in this launch

Other inhabitants were quite interested in the convoy.
After the drive some of the folks took to the training obstacles and showed what is possible with a bit of determination and a decent vehicle

Gen 1 shows that it can hold it's own.

Mrs Kai shows that in a gen 4 the women can do it just as well.

The only vehicle damage done by an inquisitive lioness, I would like to know how he is going to explain this to the insurance.

An interesting line up IO, gen1, gen 2, gen 3, gen 4 and sport

At the end of the day it was time to settle down with a tasty boerwors roll.

Finaly it was time for the draw with first prize of a advanced driving course sponsored by Protea Echo Adventures. In all I think it is safe to say every one had a great time

Christo, well done for organising the Gauteng Bash. I think Simon has his work cut out for him to beat this one

Here some pics from my camera...

Hmmm, the lions did seem hungry. One female really had an eye for my high lift on the RR.... Both times :o Luckily she didn't try and take a bit out of that...

But a great day, just went too fast

Simon

It would have been great to have you there!

A BIG thank you to you, who had the initiative to set this Owners Club up on the internet, which grew from humble beginnings to this, our first get together.

Also again thanks to our sponsors on the day:
PSG consult brokers and Cross Country insurance for the water bottles and layards
Bridgestone for the mayority of raffle prizes
Protea ECO 4x4 for the event organizing, sponsorship of profesional dring training
Mitsubishi dealers Sandton, Eastrand and Randburg for the boerie rolls at the end of the day.
Mitsubishi Brooklyn for their support and attendance

Of course the event would have been a non event had it not been for all you passionate Pajero owners that attended, it was great to meet all and a lot of freindships formed.

Re: Pajero Club Gauteng Big Bash 'Launch'
Hi Christo,

As a Paj newbie I'd like to congratulate you on a day well organised.

It was great seeing so many Paj's in one spot - even if Mrs. Lion got a bit grumpy with the 2nd fly past! (Whose Paj got "eaten"?).

I gotta say that these cabbies are quite awesome - even in my completely inexperienced hands the course was almost easy! Although I did k@k myself a bit with the last river crossing - when I saw the water coming over the bonnet I was convinced I'd be the first oke to drown a Paj there!

Looking forward to the next one.

Cheers
Tom
