I would like to know the following two things please:
1. The cig socket in the back of the Pajero. How do one go about fitting a thicker wire to it. I'm not sure how to remove the panels.
2. What would be the best to feed the cable to the back. I have a Gen 3 and the 2nd battery will have to be in the back. Must the cable be run under the chassis, if so, where to you get the cable into the back? else, what is the easiest to run it in the vehicle itself(relates to point 1)

Yes I've gone through all those considerations myself and my solution is as follows:
1. Forget about installing a thicker wire to the cigaret plug, Just install an extra plug (obtainable say from Midas or so) inside the righthand wheel arch above the hatch to the tools. This can then easily be made to have permanent power and must have a dedicated fuse. Work through the tool hatch.
2. Why must the battery go in the back? A 70 Ah battery can go under the bonnet, behind the main battery. You may have a problem with a tiny aircon pipe, but this can easily be pushed out of the way as it is very soft and bends nicely. It only needs to move about 30 cm towards the engine.
3. I ran a battery cable from the front battery along the chassis beam to the back above the towbar. You will notice other fuel or brake pipes on the same route. Above the towbar you will find three or four rubber plugs that will allow cable access into the rear chassis crossmember below the rear door. From there you fish the cable from the tool hatch and lead it to your new plug above the wheel arch. You should use cable sleeving to provide extra protection to the cable.

Saw what I think is the 4 ruber plugs that can be used. Seems it will be a bit of a tricky exercise fishing the cable through. I take it you mean that the cable should come out where the Jack is located? (You don't perhaps have some pictures?)
I need to fit the battery in the back asI have a 102 aH battery and that does not fit in the engine bay.Can't even swing the currect battery to make it fit. So the plan is to remove the third row seats,plonk the battery in it' place together with an ammo box

Jaco, there is space for a 102a/h battery in the engine bay.
I will see if we can get Allegro to post pics of his fitted. It is actually an easy fit. L.A. Sport Gezina sells a bracket (fitted) for a 102a/h battery in the Paj engine bay for R 200.00

Jaco, if use some 800mm of soft binding wire (binddraad) and bend it over so that it will be half the length, then you will be able to push it with the folded end leading, from the rubber plug to the jack compartment . Once you have that just tie your cable to the two lose ends and "Bob is your uncle".Saw what I think is the 4 ruber plugs that can be used. Everyone I talk to say that you can only install a max 70ah in the engine bay and that mine would not fit. I've been to 3 different 4x4 places. So if someone has done this before, then it would be great to learn from them. else I have to put it in the back.

Here is the pic JP talked about, it's a 102ah bracket and I have a 80ah Silver cadium battery (same size as 102 deepcycle) fitted. Just make sure the + pole on the battery is on the driver side when installed. (had to change mine as the clearance between the bonnet and pole is very close)
