OUTsurance
My Pajero is insured with OUTsurance, and over 3 months ago I had the misfortune of hitting a submerged rock and getting stuck crossing the Doring river in the Cape and the car was flooded to seat level, submerging a lot of the electronics. I managed to tow the car out of the river and get it to the nearest town, Clsnwillism. At the same time I contacted OUTsurance.
It took them a full month to organise to have it transported from Clanwilliam to Mitsubishi in Bryanston where, as of today, over 3 months after the accident, it is still standing and has not yet been assessed by OUTsurance.
Outsurance does not respond to my desperate emails.
So it seems to me that ordinary accident claims may be fine, but OUTsurance falls on its face when something unusual occurs.

Re: OUTsurance
I am planning to move away from OUTsurance - your story has just confirmed my move.

Re: OUTsurance
The only "real" options are Tuffstuff and XCountry. I'm with the latter because my broker doesn't have TS in her suite of insurance companies she deals with.

Re: OUTsurance
The "OUT" in Outsurance stands for

"We WILL find a way of getting OUT of our obligation"

I have heard to many stories about Outsurance to ever consider them.

Re: OUTsurance
Thanks for the info, Roelf. I'll check it out if I ever get my car back!

Re: OUTsurance
Yip being a broker myself for Cross Country, I've heard some ugly stories from ex OUT clients :(
Re: OUTsurance
I've been with Cross Country for many years. I am very happy with them.

When I went on my own, I looked for other quotes and nobody came close to what Cross Country offers. Not even Outsurance
Re: OUTsurance
In desperation I hand-delivered a letter to the MD of OUTsurance (Mr. Ernst Gouws)and I must say, the reaction was almost instantaneous! At last we're getting somewhere.
However, I think I'll look at Cross Country & Tuff Stuff when I replace the car.

Re: OUTsurance
Been insured with them for about 5 years now. Wife has has nasty affinity for hitting stationary objects :( . Never had a problem. Phone them, get a claim number, get smsed contact details of person handling the claim. Make a daily follow up with that person if things slow down. Maybe just been lucky :)
