Ritteling,
We had the pleasure to do the Namib desert more than a dozen years ago. That would have been in my 2000 DiD LWB. I strongly recommend you follow through with your "toying". It is an experience that stays with you for a very long time.

I support Roelf's view on the Namib trip. One of those things on the bucket list that must be done.
Chris
Weet nog nie wanneer nie ($$$), maar wil bitterlik graag my tojero plexus vat om Faces te gaan ry. My vriend het hom al twee keer gedoen en kan eenvoudig nie wag om weer te gaan met sy DiD nie!! Beslis opi bucket list.
Will be traveling light with roof top tent and three of us in my 2012 3,2 gls
Our route is a little different but as I do not know the area that well perhaps we have it wrong
Please copy me in on your trip in case we could syncronise

Roelf, we are doing Nam from 13 Jun to 4 July 2015, starting at Canon Village, Luderitz Soussusvlei, Swakop, Etosha, Tsumeb, Windhoek, and Stampriet. I would appreciate feedback on the road conditions. My experience with tyres, I drop my pressure to 1.8 at the loaded back, and 1.6 to the front. Then I keep the speed to around 90 and 100. The less thread left on a tyre, the better the chances for a flatty. So I try to do the trip on at least 60% thread left.
Regarding meat into Namibia, according to new legislation: "Unfortunately the only meat you are allowed to bring into Namibia is chicken. There is currently a health restriction on meat imports from RSA".
Enjoy uour trip, and PLEASE, remember the feed back

Hi Smoller. I agree with your tyre opinion. That is why my original post mentioned leaving the 50% jobbies at home.
I buy all provisions in Nam, so not worried about border controls.
You guys know me..... there will be feedback

Wife and I are also thinking about Nam in August. I must attend a conference in Sun City the week of the Nam through Kalahari the 21st. We would welcome forumnites to travel with us. By then the new OME on Pajero will be tested.
Further development to mention: Allan finally bit the bullet and bought the 2012 3.8V6 LWB. We collected it on Fri evening when I came through for the dash strapping.
This is turning into a serious gas-guzzling trip.
