3.2DID 2005 Service Schedule Question - Dealer wrong or me?
I took my 3.2 DID 2005 for a 360,000km service at the local Mitsu dealer. The car was at 369,530 (I could not take it in on time for the 360,000km service, thus I changed the oil myself until I could get to the dealer for the service 360,000km). I do the in between services myself and only take it to the dealer for the major ones.

The only exceptions (replaced every 60,000km) are the air purifier filter, brake fluids, transmission oils - @ 60,000km, 120,000km and 180,000km)

*I phone ahead and confirm if the 360,000km is a big service - in the Pajero booklet I can see the schedule cycle repeats after every 90,000km.
*Dealer booking guy confirms this on the phone.
*Dealer guy phones back 5hrs later with quote (story for another time).
*Service to cost around R3500.00 (incl to fit 2 new water hoses I provided, flush radiator and replace fluid, install new thermostat which I also provided)
*I say: does not sound like a major service's price to me, something is wrong.
*Dealer guy: no, it is correct, it is a major service and this is the price.
*I say: Ok, go ahead please.

So I go pick up the car and they only changed the engine filter & oil
and some other fluid I need to confirm. Service price @ R2879.75 and I provided the oil too (they could not do the radiator and pipes or thermostat). WTF? This is not a major service. I check the Estimate and it shows "165,000km Service". I repeat my concern. The dealer guy says that he confirmed with the workshop guy - they were to use the 165,000km schedule for my 360,000km service.

Now, am I missing something here? Should they not have used the 180,000km schedule for the 360,000km service? If I am wrong then so be it, but this smells like BS to me.

See estimate attached which I paid.

Sorry, I think you are wrong.

According to the info I have:

1. After 195k km the next service is the same as the 7.5k km service etc.
2. That means 360k km is like a 15k km - lots of checks plus lube the hinges/catches + Engine oil & filter.
3. The big one is 375k km.

Given that you supplied just about everything R2879.75 sounds like a bit steep! Time to DIY.

According to the service schedule the dealer themselves supplied to me, the 7,500km is 100% the same as the 187,500km and the 15,000km is 100% the same as the 195,000km. This indicates to me that after 180,000km they start at the 7,500km schedule again - it stays in the 90,000km/180,000km increments.

It still shows me the main services are at 90,000km , 180,000km , 270,000km , 360,000km etc

Still not convinced, but thanks for the input Andrew.

Re: 3.2DID 2005 Service Schedule Question - Dealer wrong or
Well, I may be right or I may be wrong, but I based my spreadsheet on a document entitled BW MMC Diesel Service Sheet (Excludes Colt). It was a scanned document that I found off the web.

It looks genuine to me.

It has columns up to and including 195k km.
At the top is a note:
"Please Note: Once when the 195,000km Maintenance service has been completed, please start the service cycle at 7,500km again.
i.e. If vehicle comes in at 202,500km for service use the 7,500km schedule."

Will check it out, thanks Andrew.

What upset me was that I confirmed with them before hand that the 360,000km was one of the major services, because I was not certain about the schedule. That is why I took it to them for a major service to start with, as the smaller services I do myself.

R3000 and one day later and nothing done what I really wanted.

I bought an oil filter there a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure they don't even have a Mitsu "desk" at the service reception anymore

Correct. Its a bit confusing at the moment. They moved/opened the Mitsu showroom and service reception/desk to the Cardinal's building next to Union Motors. When you call Mitsu via Union, they transfer you to the Cardinals switchboard etc.

The services are still done in Union's workshops though. Dont know if the parts will still be sold at Union's part building down the road.

The "service" parts are sold across the counter inside the Union workshop.

This is news to me, I have always bought them from Union's parts section down the road. Nobody at Union ever advised me otherwise.

Just confirmed with Ian at Union, Mitsu will move their parts section away from Union also in good time.

Yeah well no fine, I have already moved my Pajero service away from them.
