2001 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DiD LWB 4x4
Greetings all...

Im new to the forum and would like your opinions and cautions on the above vehicle.

Recently I bought a 2001 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DiD LWB with 303 000km on the odometer.

The above vehicle has a full service record up to date and seems to be in good mechanical order. Other then the usual brush scratch marks on the exterior from being used offroad she seems in fair condition. Drives smoothly and pulls very well.

What can I expect from this vehicle? Are they prone to mechanical faults a d things going wrong at this age and milage or are they know for reliability?

The auto box has been overhauled including the torque converter.

All electronics in working order also, including AWD management system and drive train.

I ended up paying R70k for the above and plan on only fitting new tyres, minor plastic trimmings on the outside and a good buff and polish.

Hope to end up with a good reliable vehicle.

Regards
Richard

They are lovely vehicles and age well.

The only issue is that some tend to give diesel pump issues from around the 300000-400000km range(its wide I know but some seem to give hassles and some just seem to keep going).

Pump repair is expensive and failure is instantaneous with no or very little warning, making it a bit of a bugger if you are out in the sticks. Maybe have it redone while it is still running well? Don't have the answer to that one, especially as some just seem to last forever. Cost to overhaul is around the R30000 range and there are only about two shops in SA that can work on them.
