From Entabeni: 2006 Gen3 3.2 DiD LWB GLS Auto 213,000km
Fuel Consumption:
We recently completed a longish trip from Robertson via Kimberley to JHB, Sabi Sand in the lowveld, back to JHB, then PMB, Matatiele, the Mountain Zebra Park at Cradock and via Graaf Reinet home.
Overall distance was 5,363 km uaing 521,38 litres giving a fuel consumption of 9.72 l/100km. Considering that I replaced pistons a year ago and had fuel flow problems caused by a dented fuel tank, I was thankful that it was as good as this! How does it compare with that of others who have done similar trips?
Alles van asbestos, Entabeni.
Entabeni, obviously driving style, speed & load will make a significant difference in figures, tyre choice could also make a difference - I use BFG A/T. I'm a fairly calm driver 99% of the time (at 54yrs the fox terrier side of me comes out selectively, 98% of the time) - doing a fair amount of longer distance driving to clients and break-aways with moderate loads, average consumption with my 2006 GLX A/T is in the same order as yours on the longer trips. Doing suburban and (thankfully only) a little inner city driving, the consumption drops to 8-8,5km/l, which I estimate is also what I get out in the veld doing work or leisure driving. Overall average is ~9,2km/l - which I am very happy with, having all the power available when needed...
I have really struggled to get less than 10.5L/100km on the open road so your consumption is very good. And as per pfgrobler we now tow on longer trips so under 10 is but a pipe dream....

Driving back from Prince Albert to Cape Town last week I got 9L / 100km in my 2008 GLX - see attached.
I drive relatively slowly though - average about 110 km/h.

Hi, we have had a 2000 model 3.2 SWB since new, now done 220k. It consistently achieves 10 L/100 on long trips, and recently in KNP used 7.49. A truly great vehicle!
I drive a 2003 Gen 3 3.2 DiD LWB and my consumption for this year so far:

Hello pjgrobbler,
Thank you for your reply. Fortunately (?) I retired a long time ago so have no city commuting to do. 11.9 l/100km is not too bad I guess for a heavy vehicle like the Paj.

Hello Carl_Pajero,
From the fuel consumption figures you give I guess that you commute in a city environment in your Pajero. I am retired so we bumble about in my wife's Toyota Yaris on short local trips and keep the Paj mainly for long trips to e.g. Namibia. Thanks for the info.
