Wheel track spacers ?
Howzeet

When I look at my Gen3 from the front it always looks like the wheel track is a little narrow for my liking, would look a little better if it was just that little bit wider, yes?

So with that in mind, has anyone completed this exercise before? Can it be done? are there any limitations and why? and possibly maybe I shouldn't stuff around with how its been designed in the first place ?

I have searched the forum for some details but didn't really find anything.

Advice as always is appreciated.

:D

I also wanted to do it but in the end got 2010 Ford Ranger rims second hand and made a new center cap. It has a slight wider off set but still look reasonably standard.
It worked for me.

Re: Wheel track spacers ?
Take a look here

http://themonterobuild.blogspot.com/

This guy has done quite a few interesting mods to his Gen III Montero/Pajero, and under "Tires" he mentions having fitted 30mm spacers on all four wheels. May give you an idea how it would look. Seems to have moved to Hummer now but I often find people with blogs are delighted to answer any questions you may have.

Hope that assists

I also toyed with the idea of wheel spacers when I had my Triton. Had to central consider how thick I wanted the spacer to be, type of material I wanted it to be made of, how much longer the wheel nuts had to be....in the end I just got an aftermarket set of rims with the right offset and was done with it.

Hi Guys
The other day I came across an interesting article in Drive Out April 2014 that very nicely explains the effect of spacers or rims with different offsets. The explanation is quite technical and detailed and worth a read. Should help the thought process.
Enjoy!

Re: Wheel track spacers ?
I've got wheel spacers fitted to my SWB and think it helps a lot in making it look "right"! On a standard lift I might not have bothered, but with the Stofpad lift the track looked a bit narrow for the body.

Here's what the spacers look like. Do get the hub-centric ones as the Pajero's wheel nuts don't centre spacers on the studs like e.g. Toyota ones do.

And with the wheels on it looks like this - the angles don't give the full picture, but its the only ones I have handy.

Any chance you can tell us where it was made and cost indication?

Also how are the General Grabbers AT2 tyres performing?

Re: Wheel track spacers ?
Cats, Gorman replied to my pm and he says he got them from 4x4direct (R620 per spacer). However, he then had to have the centre section made to centre on the hub as they are universal type spacers. I'm pretty sure Uys would make something like this for a lot less, I am very keen for a set.

PS - they are 30mm thick

Thanks.

Will chat to Uys when I go pick up my Sparewheel lifter on Friday.
