Re: 100 000km Rip Off
To be fair guys, this isn't just a rule with mitsubishi / mercedes.

No motorplan / service plan will entertain carrying the costs on a vehicle over the mileage limit or time limit. Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota etc... they ALL have that guideline and they all stick to it.

Coming from the motortrade I know this well, thats why I sent my wife's Audi in three times in the last 1000km of the plan - I just kept making excuses for it to go in. Take advantage while it's there, because once it's gone it's gone. And no amount of jumping and shouting is going to change it.

To the best of my knowledge is this what has transpired.

The maintenance contract for the car in question is still with Mercedes-Benz SA and that contract expired at 100k km. That is cast in stone. The dealer in question and Mitsubishi SA will carry the cost of the service (50/50). I believe it is booked in for today.

I hope the OP can and will confirm that I have been informed correctly.

If my info is reliable, then we should give Mitsubishi and Union Motors some recognition for caring about the customer.
If this is so, the OP must be very grateful. This great service!!! Mitsubishi and Union Motors have no legal obligation to do this. We South Africans often tend to leave things till the last moment and then demand extensions and accommodations even when we are in the wrong.

Just some feedback. :D My vehicle was booked in for the 100 000km service on Monday. I contacted Mitsubishi SA and spoke to David who went out of his way to assist me. Thank you David and Mitsubishi SA for your assistance and for backing your product all the way, also thank you to the team at Union Motors for your assistance regarding this matter. Great thanks to you all. :D

Re: 100 000km Rip Off
Just for the record. I contacted Union Motors to book a service on the Monday. Mileage on vehicle when I contacted them was 99887. I could only get a booking on the Thursday. If Union Motors or Mercedes Benz for that matter communicated this properly, I would have had no problem and I would have accepted it as my mistake but if you don’t know of their rule, how can you abide to it. All they need to do is just put a notice up in their reception to inform their customers. (I then could have stopped my vehicle on my way back from Lydenburg on 100 000km and arranged for a lowbed to collect and deliver the vehicle for the service) As a matter of fact, this is the only time something like this happened to me; I never had this issue with any other vehicle I have owned. But as posted previously, thanks to the service and assistance of David from Mitsubishi SA and the team at Union, the problem was resolved and with this type of service and assistance received , I can give a sigh of relieve because there is still companies who will go the extra mile to support their products and brand. Well done to you all. This is the reason we invest in brand name products, not true? :D :D :D
Re: 100 000km Rip Off
I lost out on the 90k service on my 3.8V6 SWB when I had the 5 year expiry date wrong by a few weeks.

I took that one on the chin and ended up paying almost R10k for that big cambelt service.

Re: 100 000km Rip Off
I've been taking my mitsubishi's to Union since 2009. They were /are the only dealer, so I had to. We've had disagreements, but overall, they have been fair and have at least tried to tender to my needs and have given me understandable reasons for when they could not. Part supplies and part prices from Imperial have been one area where they have been candid & honest to me, almost to the point of me being disturbed. Being caught between MB & Imperial has probably not been easy for them, which had resulted in Mitsubishi being removed from their showroom last year. Not making excuses for our local "stealer", but sometimes the other perspective could have merit.

This is not right for sure. There is always an allowance for the reading, mostly you allowed 1500kms over the reading. I would take this up with Mitsubishi for sure.
Re: 100 000km Rip Off
Jimmy,

This issue isn't about the service window, it is about the end of a legal contract.

In the OP's case Mitsu and the dealer both came to the party and shared the service cost 50/50.

Re: 100 000km Rip Off
Slightly off topic, but my experience with Union Motors is also quite poor. I serviced my Paj there for 2 years and was always disappointed each time. I seldom got the car back cleaned even after stating that I will pay for a proper clean. One day my wife dropped the car off as it was booked in for a service and on returning to collect, she found that it had been "forgotten" so it stayed another day.

On another occasion they serviced the Paj and the next month the brakes were steel to steel. Not checked at all.

I also complained once when I discovered that the centre engine cover underneath was "missing". This needs to be taken off to drain the oil and cannot simply fall off as it is bolted on. They denied any culpability.

I now take it to Silver Arrows who's service is definitely better and more reasonably priced.
