New in the Pajero family
Hi everyone, I am new in Pajero family, bought Pajero io 1.8 5 door,1999 model. It has 190 000 km on the clock, but i think it was tempered with.Anyway deal is done, now started fixing small things around it.First driver side window regulator. Doesn't close.Motor striped and waiting for brushes.Reverse light switch missing, ordered one waiting for part to arrive from Japan.Wheel alignment needs to be done, clutch slave was leaking.Went to Auto zone in Primrose and got replacement part with two rubber seals works perfectly.Fuel consumption is very bad.Only managed to put 40 L even though manual says 53 L.Looks like it will be 13L/100km which is bad. Was told to clean injectors, clean throttle, check battery and (Lambda) sensor.Read somewhere to reset ECU don't know if that will help.Would like more info on this pls. I need spare wheel cover if some one has one for sale pls let me know. I think this is enough for the first post. Any advise or experience with this vehicle please share it with me love it and want to know more about it.Regards

Re: New in the Pajero family
Enjoy your iO.

One of the most underrated 4x4s of its time. Unfortunately not many in South Africa and not many active members on here with them either, so please share as much as you can on what you do to the vehicle to capture it for prosperity.

Some other countries like Brazil stil has some facelifted version running around new. I think they are called Tr4 in those countries.

Fuel consumption on the 1.8l petrol was never great. So start making peace with it and just enjoy the other good things about the vehicle.

Pictures maybe? :-)

Re: New in the Pajero family
Having overheating problem with my io.Changed radiator, flushed system and heater core. When idling ,no problem temp.gauge is in right position in the middle. As soon as I pull away it starts going up into hot (H).Doesn't come down even when fans kick in.Don't know what to do getting desperate.I am in Joburg East Rand around Bedfordview and Edenvale any good Mitsu specialist close by.Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated...
Re: New in the Pajero family
Sad news, but hopefully can be fixed reasonably cheaply.

Take it to a good radiator workshop to test for exhaust gasses in the coolant.

If present, you have a blown head gasket.

The water pump might be defective, you might have a stuck thermostat, or a blocked coolant pipe.
