Wind/whining noise on console
I wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar and can assist me to solve a problem on my 2007 Pajero LWB.

At speeds of 100kms p/h and over we experience an intermittent wind/whining noise from the dashboard at the driver’s side where the dash meets the windscreen. It does not last very long and comes and goes irregularly. I have tested it with the aircon on and off and it doesn’t seem to be affected by the aircon.

Many thanks.

Hi Harts,
Is your Pajero a Gen 3 or 4?
2007 was the change over year.

Hi Roelf

Gen 4.
Re: Wind/whining noise on console
Thanks.

Check on the outside near the window for trim (or even something stuck there) that could possibly "buzz" at speed. We once solved that symptom on a Grand Vitara by pushing a little wedge under some trim.
Re: Wind/whining noise on console
Thanks Roelf I will do that. Appreciate the response and feedback.

Regards.
Re: Wind/whining noise on console
No prob.
Hope you get it sorted.
Re: Wind/whining noise on console
I think you need the cable ties installed, they secure the top of the dash right at the windscreen. This will stop any movement of the plastic against the glass which could be the cause of the buzzing sound. While we are at it I could install the brackets to secure the centre of the dash. Let me know if you are interested.

Hi - Had same issue on Gen4. Sounded like angry bees. It was the windscreen trim poorly fitted after having windscreen replaced down in lower corner. Used some silicon sealer and no more problem. Seems common problem on some forums.

I had the same on the Gen3. Had the windscreen removed and refitted. Problem solved.
