Hi there,
Just registered here, bought a 2000 Pajero SWB V6 3.5L just 2 days ago.
The car has been standing for months and I've noticed that the car is idling rough and at quite a low RPM, 400-500... It also does not have the power that it should in the rev range 2000-3500 so I'm guessing that 1, the fuel filter is clogged or 2, the fuel line isn't getting the pressure it should get. IE, fuel pump or fuel pressure valve.
So now I'm looking for a trustworthy mechanic in Maputo that knows his ways around these 6G74 engines and that can basically do a tune up and service for me.
Regards,
Brian
We're in Maputo and own a 2006 Pajero Exceed. Have you had any luck locating a reliable service option in the city?

Hi Guys,
It’s a struggle to find a trustworthy mechanic in Mozambique.
For 3 years I had a 94’s Pajero 2800 Diesel and now I bought a 2000 3.2 Diesel.
I had a problem with the pump and long story short It was sent to Poland. Meanwhile The car it was parked for 8 months in my mechanic (that I had been working for 3 years in my previous car and it wasn’t a cheap mechanic) when the pump returned I had 5 more problems to deal with.
I was recommended to go to Auto Abreu at the end of Av. 24 de Julho. The main problems were solved (but it wasn’t cheap, and the remaining problems it seems to be related with the new pump or ECU
Hope not) and it seems to be a person that can be trusted (I work at a bank and the fleet maintenance it's performed in Auto Abreu).
If you need the contacts please advise me and you can ask for a quotation.
Regards,
Tiago

The 6g74 requires at least 95ron petrol and in Mozambique we only have 93 Ron. that is the first problem. Second problem are the microfilters and hi pressure pumps. always use fuel from a trusty garage where stock is always moving. for my petrol and diesel needs I only use engen at Vladimir lenine avenue near capuchinho.
As for garages I can recoomend Propeças located downtown and Enpex who are now located in Matola by mozal area.
they will charge you but take pride in their work. they will be the ones going my V8 conversion into the gen 2.5 when I get the guts and money for it.
I work in insurance so I gotta deal with garages everyday and never had a single complaint regarding these garages. I also use a friend who is a "backyard mechanic" who is also downtown, very qualified guy but a bit lazy so you gotta be there to pressure him. He did my 4m40 head a year ago and so far no problem. best part is I paid him 5.000 meticais for the whole job.
