Low range ratio change
I would like to know the feasibility of reducing the low range ratio in the transfer case.
If anyone has had any experience with this please let me know.
Re: Low range ratio change
Lynton,

Your question is going un answered, but I have not come across anybody that has actually done it. I drove Pajeros for so many years, that I just accepted it for what it was, but my new Isuzu has opened my eyes to the benefit of a nice low crawl gear.

Play around on YouTube and you will find a few videos where Pajeros play with other makes in the rough - it is very obvious how much faster the Pajero goes through the obstacles due to the higher Low Range. What is important to notice though: they always make it through. The whole Pajero package is well designed and well engineered.

I'll keep an eye on this post

If there is a crowd that can help you, it will be the members of th 4x4Wire forum

The yanks have a fetish about crawler gears.

Join there and ask.

Re: Low range ratio change
Thanks for the responses guys... Appreciated.
I should have said that mine is a 2001 Gen 3 3.2DiD Manual.
I will follow up with Marks 4wd in Aus but I was hoping to find something local.
Thanks Guys.

AFAIK the Gen3 petrol and manual has a 4.1 ratio. It is a direct swap. I had 285/75 on my gen3 Did and wasn't happy with the power and fuel consumption and considered this mod, was feasible but expensive. Have reverted back to standard tire circumference. Awesome mod, with 285/75 tires, if you can afford it.
