I just left mine....one day it worked...not accurate but ay least I'm not drivimg SW all the time. It gives you an indication in sort off what directiom you are driving but yes...not for true navigation.

Thanks Oubaas, more than three years later. Mits couldn't fix it, the Indy couldn't fix it, 2 minutes in the driveway and it's fixed.Oubaas wrote:Park your Pajero facing north. Go into settings. Set the deviation to 20 degrees. Take a magnet and place it in the centre of the dash, as close as possible to the windscreen. Now move the magnet in a circle, from the windscreen towards the edge of the dash, and back to the windscreen. Circle must be about 20cm in diameter. Compass will be calibrated before the circle has been completed.
I have reset the compass on my 3.8 liter SWB without any problems at sea level or at other higher altitudes as well. However, I always did it in fairly well open spaces eg large parking areas with no tall buildings in the immediate surroundings. Whether it helps, I do no know. I just drive around clockwise at idling speed & the compass resets within a minute or so. Bear in mind that it is a bit of a gimmick & one should not expect true bearings as in the case of military compasses.
