Hi there, some advice please - I bought my 2005 GLS Pajero 7 months ago and started experiencing a problem that worries me. When traveling long distances (60km+) the Pajero does not want to idle, when I end up in traffic where you have to stop at traffic lights the Pajero stalls as it does not want to idle, this happens as soon as I take my foot off the brake - any advice on where I can start looking for the problem? Any advice is much appreciated
Start with the easy things first. Like a new diesel and air filter. I assume it is a diesel?
Does it also die when in neutral? I assume it is an automatic?

Thanks for the advice - It is a diesel automatic and it does not have any problems when in neutral only when in drive.
I have recently replaced the diesel filter and will do the same with the air filter.
Is there anything else I can investigate in order to solve this problem?
Hope it is not something major as this is my only means of transport.

Ok. If it does not die when in neutral that would point me to the gearbox?? Not so? When last was the gearbox oil and filter replaced and with what oil?

I had the same symptoms in my former Cherokee (not diesel) and turned out to be a faulty TPS sensor.
That is where my next investigation will start - thank u very much for your advice, really appreciate your time and effort !CATS wrote:Ok. If it does not die when in neutral that would point me to the gearbox?? Not so? When last was the gearbox oil and filter replaced and with what oil?

Good day gentleman - thank you so much for all your advice and trouble in assisting a novice like me!
I have given my pajero a full service and replace air, diesel and transmission filters and gave it a complete flush and filled up with ATF transmission filter - unfortunately the problem still persists so the next step is cleaning the EGR valve - will keep you updated on the situation as soon as valve has been cleaned.
Thanks again
