Looking to buy Gen4 Pajero
Hi guys & gals,

Another newbie to the forum and hopefully a Pajero owner soon. Looking at buying a Gen 4 but am a bit uncertain.

I like the DiD's but can get a good V6 for a relatively nice price. Any known issues I should look out for? How does fuel consumption compare to that of the Di-D (real world consumption, not google figures). How expensive are these to maintain? How well do they tow?

Apologies for all the questions. LOL
Re: Looking to buy Gen4 Pajero
The V6 in the Gen4 has 184kw and if you select 4th gear you can tow comfortably at 40km/h in the Kruger or 100km on the open road. It will conquer just about any mountain at the 3000rpm 100km/h cruise. BUT it will consume fuel at anything from 18 to 20 litres per 100km.

It is a beautiful engine and it operates seemlessly with the autobox and traction/stability control systems.

Maintenance is easy and cheap, but every 90k km is timing belt and spark plugs time. That is labour heavy and can run up a R10k bill.

Re: Looking to buy Gen4 Pajero
Thank you Roelf, much appreciated. Am a bit concerned about fuel consumption to be honest. Thinking I should keep searching for a Di-D. :-) By the sound of things the Di-D's also seem to have better resale value.

Bosuil,
What is your target in terms of price, age and kms?

Sub R200k. Looking at 2007/2008 models. Most of them around 170 000km. Will also consider a good gen 3 diesel shorty.
