Accidental Putting Petrol in Diesel 3.2 DID LWB
On 01 June 2017, I drove my Pajero into one of the garages in Vereeniging to refuel at about 7pm. The tank was almost empty. Somehow, I noted that the attendant was putting petrol 93 and I immediately stopped when 18 liters had been poured and the engine was idling. This cause great concern to me, I immediately switched off the engine and requested that they remove the contaminated fuel. That could not happen, and I left the car at the garage till 8am in the morning when a mechanic came to remove all the contaminated fuel. That was done and 25 liter diesel put and used to clean the fuel system. After that, we filled the tank and put the cleaning detergent. I drove off to Middelburg and back. To date the Pajero is doing very fine.

I made the garage manager sign and own what happened. The paid all the expenses.

Will I experience any problems in future? Any possible damages that may arise?

You should be fine. You did the right thing and you caught it at the right moment. All the petrol was cleaned out. So you will be fine. Your car would of burped and farted a while ago yet it still running fine. So which means you are still fine.

Why was your car idling while being filled up?

Thanks colleagues for the responses. The beast is still running excellently, thank God. I had that bad habit of not switching off the engine when fuelling up. I have since changed that anywhere.
