I have a 4M40 Pajero with the Zexel VE mechanical pump. I'm trying to locate a replacement overflow valve (fuel return pressure valve) — the one under the banjo fitting on the rear of the pump.
My current valve is leaking from the center/top, and diesel is squirting out while running. I believe the internal seal or O-ring has failed.
I’ve heard some members have cleaned and resealed theirs successfully, but I’d prefer to just replace the part.
I spent my entire day phoning around, but could not track the part down, and 80% of the people I spoke to just wanted to overhaul the entire pump. As I understand, it's a fairly basic procedure to remove this valve and there is no need to re-calibrate the entire pump after replacing it. Attached is an image of what I think it looks like (I will remove mine tomorrow) as well as screenshot of where diesel is being squirted from. I circled the area where the excess diesel is ejected from with green: The car starts hard in the morning. I replaced the glow-plugs last week, as well as the starter during the previous week. The starter was only a year old, and got damaged due to diesel that got into it. Go figure.
I’m based in Jeffreys Bay but can buy online or courier from anywhere in SA.
Thanks in advance — any help appreciated!
