Am I to believe that it would be about a 5 hour job to replace the rear speakers on the gen 3 SWB?? Someone told me you have to remove /loosen the roof panel then the rear boot panel, then you can get into the side panels.
Is it really this much work??
Maybe check the Australian Pajero forums... I have seen threads there about speaker installs.

Hi there,
I fitted 6x9s in my Gen 2 pajero, and yes, its a hell of a job,
you need to remove the roof and ground plate at the tail door, then the side and ceiling panels (only the plastic obviously)
The removal goes like so:
1st remove the bottom and top plastic at the tail door,
2nd remove the back corner side pillar panels.
3rd remove the middle column pannels (just in fromt of the wheel arch (by the back doors)
4th remove the side top panels (between the sides and ceiling)
5h remove the side panels (the top halves) these are a real bitch, as your not quite sure how they fasten
6th remove the bottom panels (easier than the top ones, but essentially the same problem)
IIRC you can bolt the 6x9s directly to the body (there is place) I would suggest making use of some flashing to avoid metal on metal contact though.
I have to do mine over again, coz the 6x9s I installed are <censored>, I thought they wouldnt be a problem, but they sound really tinny (in fact, this could be a problem even with brand new 6x9s, as I have a horrible suspition that the acoustics of the area where these are installed is not conducive to ANY kind of bass - you may be better off building 2 small boxes for the 6x9s, and mounting them somewhere out the way (easier done if you have a packing system) which I dont.
I hope this helps somewhat.
