Bash Plates (Gen 3)
Hi,

I was just wondering what bash plates other Gen 3 owners have fitted?

I'd like to fit an intercooler and sump bash plate.

I see that For Fours (now called Lynx 4x4) and Frontrunner both make them. I am busy finding out the specs (material and thickness of both).

Does anyone else have another brand fitted? And what are the specs?

Maybe we can try to collect all the info on Gen 3 bash plates in this thread?

Thanks very much,
Cheers

Re: Bash Plates (Gen 3)
Just some feedback for the manufacturers...

Frontrunner
Image
- pic from website
- Available at Safari Centre (on order)
- 3mm steel (website says 4.5mm but it is wrong - 3mm is confirm by measuring from Frontrunner themselves)
- Sump Guard - R1295, Belly Plate R1295 (website) or R980 and R1390 from Safari Centre
- black powered coated

For Fours
Image
- pic from this forum (thanks "tsblack")
- Available at LA Sport (on order)
- 4mm steel (4mm according to For Fours, 4.5mm according to LA Sport)
- One continuous plate (Intercooler and Sump together) - R2450 (might be able to get 4x4 community forum discount)
- silver electroplated / galvanized (older ones were gold)

The other post on this forum confirms that the For Fours is made stronger and thicker!

I would never buy powdercoated bashplates.... That is unless I never intend to go offroad...

Re: Bash Plates (Gen 3)
Hi,

I updated my post above...

The Frontrunner plates are definitely 3mm, and the For Fours are definitely 4mm :) So it looks like the For Fours are the way to go!

I'll be placing an order soon.... I damaged my std bash plate last weekend at Atlantis Dunes - tackled a slightly too steep dune, slightly too fast  Early in the morning, and in overcast conditions makes it very difficult to see the slopes of the dunes :( Everything just looks white!

Re: Bash Plates (Gen 3)
Hi

Could someone please just confirm

I've got the 2002 SWB Pajero. Is this the CK model?

I've ordered frontrunner bash and belly plates before and when I took my vehicle in fo fitment they phoned me 15min later and told me it is the wrong plates. Later they said Frontrunner doesn't make plate for the SWB.

Could someone please confirm the CK model?

Re: Bash Plates (Gen 3)
AFAIK the SWB and LWB use exactly the same plates

Hi

Yes in my mind the SWB and LWB should also take the same plates. More than one place has asked me whether it is a SWB or LWB because it is different prices for different plates, though. :?:

Any light on what exactly the CK model is?

Yes - The 2002 is a CK in South Africa. IIRC your engine block number start with CK, thus the designation. The Gen 4 from 2007 on is called a BK. This is only used in South Africa it seems.

Hi

LouwB, I replied on the thread instead of your PM for everyone’s benefit.

Yes I have fitted the Lynx Bash plates on Monday (22/11/2010). Very impressive. Fitted perfectly and looks aggressive. Now I must just go and test it..... :D

They charged me R2300 and when I asked for discount they gave me 15% discount because it was a private deal. (Apparently only valid for this month??)

Below is some photos as per the forums motto: "If there’s no photos, it didn't happen."
