That photo was definately not taken in December!! In December that stretch of beach looks more like a car park in Gauteng than a beach and quads and 4x4's race up and down at great speed with most drivers having a beer in one hand!!! Or has things changed since I last visited?

You are right this was late January when there is still a few holiday people. It normally takes 2-3 months to get the dunes and beaches back on track.

The area around Langstrand gets moer busy in Dec. No better place if your young. We prefer to go up north past Henties where things are a bit more relaxed.

We were in Swakop 2 years ago over New Years... it was busy but never a problem. There were regular road blocks between Walvis and Swakop, so a beer it hand would have been trouble! I didn't encounter any reckless driving (on or off road).

Really enjoyed it! :)
