As a matter of interest, I would like owners of this unit to tell me what their routing settings are on the unit. I somehow find strange routing since loading Southern Africa Streetmap 2009.
Are you runnign any version of T4A on the unit?roem wrote:As a matter of interest, I would like owners of this unit to tell me what their routing settings are on the unit. I somehow find strange routing since loading Southern Africa Streetmap 2009.

That would have been my first question as well. T4A and Streetmaps seem to not like each other all the time. Just switch off the T4A mapset when in town and only keep the Streetmap mapset on. This should sort out your problem.
This was never a problem earlier but since the T4A maps became routable they seem to not like being loaded with Garmin Streetmap and activated at the same time in areas where both have routable maps.

I had a ook on my GPS. All I have is the base map and Southern Africa street maps. The base map is switched of. My memory stick is not big enough for both sets of maps.
mmm
OK - lets start digesting it further then. What exactly does it do that you notice and gave rise to this post.
The 276C is generally regarded as one of the better, if not BEST, and reliable off-road units, so this must be something in the settings.

The problem is that I am not always happy with the routing. As an example. I was at the Cradle of mankind and wanted to go to Harties, about 50km from where I was. It routed me through Roodepoort unto the N14. It added more than 20km to the route.CATS wrote:mmm

My settings on the unit is:
Route Preference -> The pop-up menu appears and I mostly choose Fater Time, like in this instance
Calculation Method -> Better Route
Avoid -> u-turns, Carpool lanes
Ja, thats about it. I also find that the unit will route me totaly different than Mapsource. My Mapsouce settings are:
Calculation style -> Fater time
Road Selection -> I moved the scroll bar just one posistion left of the centre.
The rest is the Avoid, same as above, and the speed.
Although I had chosen faster time, I am convinced that adding more than 20km to the route will not get me to my destanation quicker.
Thanks
I am still in the learning phase of my 276. I do however know that it is not possible to load streetmaps with T4A at the same time. They dont work together. I have been told that the easiest is to buy another mamory stick and have the two different map sets on their respective memory sticks.
I still want to try and plan a route on Mapsource using T4A, copying this and pasting it onto streetmaps.
Other than that, I am very happy with my 276

They can be loaded together, They must just not be switched on together. This never was a problem before, but since the T4A maps also started to get routing capabilities they started 'fighting' with each other
.
Copying route from mapsource to the unit is easy peasy and then you just decide which map must display on your screen.
How did my Old Block Pinotage go down there in the Namib?

Hmmm, me needs to look into having streetmaps and T4A on one stick but selecting the maps. Interesting, please note, I dont like reading destruction manuals
The wine:):):) Hmmmmm, I want more
It was good, thanks

Now i'm lost.... If I send a new map to the GPS, it overwrites the one on the unit. Secondly, how do I load two maps?CATS wrote:Kai
