Hi all

I've got a squeek on the rear that manifests itself on the slightest bump

It drives me nuts,problem is,dealers are 30km's ( next town) away and I don't want to send it now coz the service is due in 3000km.

I was hoping to get a pointer in the right direction or,did anyone else have a similar problem (Gen4)

Any advice will be appreciated.

Bushes? Possibly the anti-sway bar bushes.

Lie under the car, let somebody stand on the rear bumper / tow bar and 'bounce' the Pajero.
You should be able to identify the source.

If it is coming from bushes, try any of the following:

• silicon spray
• Q20 (or equivalent 'ghost-pee')
• Sunlight Liquid soap
• brake fluid (be careful not to get it on paint, though)

The best results are to be had if you strip out the bush and wash it properly, before spraying it with silicon spray.

It's an '09 with 26k on the clock. Still under warranty. Should I request they have a look,just not in the mood for "everything looks ok" then it's fault finding at my expense

I'm going to try some shackle fluid and see if it makes a difference.

I've stood on the tow bar and tried to replicate the sound and nada. I can't replicate the squeek.

Also sprayed all the rubbers with shackle fluid and still the squeek prevails

Any help guys?

So from your investigation it is not from suspension then. Ok on gen 4 I would suggest check rear seat back. Mayby fold them flat and take a drive to see if sound has dissapeared. Sometimes they are not locked in properly or the catch need some grease and they make a horrible noise.

Other than that I have seen a Gen 4 with a VERY noisy roofrail. The rail was fitted to a roofrack so not sure it is a standard problem or related to the particular rack fitment, but it made a terrible squelch at the center 'foot' on each side.

When I got my gen 3,I also had a squeak that sounded like from the rear end when i rode over even the smallest of bumps. I eventually found that the rear door rubber stopper was causing this. Cleaned and spayed with Q20 and the sound has now been gone for a long time. I think it is caused by dust on the rubber that is causing the queak.

Ditto on the dusty door guide rubbers causing squeaks this side, but on my Patrol.

OK, if CAS has the same squeek as me (Grrrr) its defiantly not the rear seats, door stopper nor can it be simulated by jumping up and down on the tow bar like a lunatic. Been there, found nothing.

Mine sounds like a sharp clingy type sound as if the wheel is loose (???) or the shock is loose(???) But, all checked. I have been under the car with spanners and oil spray. Still NOTHING>

My next attempt will be (apart from ignoring it by loud radio and windows closed) will be to lift the whole rear of the Paf and moer the tire with a 4 pound hammer.....

I have an inkling feeling it may also be the thin steel plate surrounding the discs on the rear???

I did have an inkling about the brakes too,just too much work that
