Mixing BFG with Bridgestones?
All

I'm not huge on mixing tire makes on a vehicle. What, if any, could be the prblem in mixing BFG and Bridgstone tires all terrains?

make sure they are all have the same circumference.

If not your LSD may overheat
or your VCU may overheat in 4H
or your car will be unstable in 4HLc or 4LLc

The compound on some tyres differ, and you can have really crappy and unexpected reactions on-road (on tar) when driving fast and cornering.

Off-road it is probably less important, while circumference is important as soon as you are in any 4WD configuration.

I would rather use the most-run-down pair as spares...

Hmm, I hear you.....

Problem is to replace all four (actually 5) will kill the bank... and I have one tire on the car (60% life left) with a cut on the sidewall :(

My thoughts were two new BFG's on the rear, other rear as spare and then at a later stage another two BFG's....

not to bash but I have learned that price is not important when it comes to safety. ;)

Re: Mixing BFG with Bridgestones?
I have just replaced a set of bf at with bridgestone and the difference in the handling of my baby was more than noticeable. The bfs feels as if it is a lot more rigid than the bridgestones, the stones tend to feel as if the pressure is to low and tends to wallow in corners. Seeing as I have only done about 3k on them I suppose it is something that I will have to get used to :|

It might be a bit of a surprise drive with these two brands on one car, interesting maybe

Try and look on Gumtree or other classifieds for another tire... I did this when I lost a single tire - managed to get 2 matching tires with 70% tread for R300 :)
