RobinsVoyage's 1988 SWB Pictures and Updates from America
Hello, I'm Robin... known as Antioch in other places.. I am a Pajero lover and wanted to join the club to share knowledge and showoff my MK1 or Gen 1... It's a 1988, SWB, 2.6L petrol powered bucket of bolts.. but I am very attached to it.
(seems like my pix are too big. Right click on them and click View Image for the full pictures.. sorry about that. I'm new.)

This is my friend "the camel," near North Platte, Nebraska. The camel knows me, even though I don't know who owns her, and she will run up and moan a greeting whenever I pull up and stop. Normally I'll bring her a treat or two so she'll remember me the next time.

This is from last winter.

We replaced all the flooring with rubberized vinyl..

OK.. so what else.. 31X10.50x15 MT tyres, home built snorkel, headlight covers, off road lights, illegally dark windows, and a few other things I can't remember at the moment.

It looks great, even with the steering wheel installed on the wrong side!

I see from your intro post that yours is actually a Dodge Raider. I assume you swapped in a Mitsu grille and that's why you have a V6 emblem on the front of your 2.6?

Yes Gerrit, the one that Mitsubishi put on their Dodge Imports was very generic, flimsy, and ugly to boot.. I pulled that one off a LWB in a junk yard in Texas, but it did cost about 80 USD.. more than I would have thought. It still has the 2.6L, but I hope to one day stick a diesel in her, as well as replace all of the other components that go along with a 2.5L.. Incidentally, Dodge must have hated this model, as even on the manual it reads "the Imported for Dodge Raider." There is nothing on any of the decals for the engine or make plate that say Chrysler or Dodge at all... except one that says it meets the Chrysler Safety Standards on the inside of the driver's side door.

True... but that's the way they come in most of the world. I grew up in Australia and still sometimes go to the wrong door... lol..

LOL on the cigarette prices.. that was in Arizona and that is a pretty medium price in the United States with all of the hidden "sin" taxes.. In Nebraska they're about $4... I smoke Pall Malls which are about $3.50... but anyway...

Thank you... the Gen 1 has been an excellent little 4x4. I've driven her from Nebraska to Maine and back, and also from Nebraska down to Arizona. She is not without her "issues," however, including a clogged carburetor, and she badly needs a ring job.. the mileage at its best was 21 mpg on the highway, now down to 11! Still, around town and off road she is excellent.
