I called MM on Friday with reference no and vin no and they said they were going to oreder the parts and let me know when this arrives for a appointment to fit. Will keep posted. They could not tell me what was wrong?

Also had the recal, just replaced the parts month ago at stealers, still trying to get an answer out of them about a possible refund!
Any feedback from Mitsu themselves? (Perhaps thats why there are no numbers on the letter !)

My mitsubishi is going in next week for the brake accumulator recall.
It hasn't failed after 260'000km so Mitsubishi must be really careful with the latest trends in recalls, and not taking any chances.

As far as I understand: It is a pressure 'container' that assist in the ease of applying brake force by the driver. If it fails I would imagine that it would be hard to use the brakes. Almost like when not power assisted.
I am however not an expert.

What is commonly called the 'tank' is more aptly referred to as the accumulator.
Many cars have a similar 'reservoir' to store some air / hydraulic fluid under pressure.

Something on this recal is not quite what it seemsto be.
I had my brake acumulator replaced a month or so ago, cost 2.5 k ,parts and labour.
On enquiry regarding recal letter, the stealers reply that the part price is r1.58 or something rediculous like that. So, no refund !! I have the email from them, but where do you go now?

I had the same. I suspect that the part is subsidised by Mitsubishi international for the recall, and thus the lower cost than when we had to buy it from the dealers. I also got back empty handed. But I suppose it is one of those things. I accepted it. When I replaced it, it was still working but made that stupid noise, so I decided to replace and agreed to the price at the time.
