One thing that stand out for me is the stick shift...

last time I was in the US I asked for a stick shift hire car? The Hertz lass behind the counter stared at me blankly and asked... what's a stick shift?

But back on topic that a seriously clean Gen1... probably one of the best I have seen

I think most people in America probably don't know how to drive one, but I was one of the lucky ones who was forced to learn a stick shift before anything else. My father took me out into a large car park when I was 14 and had me drive around and showed me how to use the clutch. That car later became my first car, a 1979 Toyota Celica GT fastback. My third car was a stick shift, a 1986 JeI ep Comanche pickup, later I had a 1983 Datsun 280 ZX and a 1990 Bronco II which were also stick shifts. My car I had before the Paj was a 1992 Ford Bronco, which has an automatic.. the Bronco is currently being driven by my fiance, but ironically the only thing she doesn't like about it is that is NOT a stick shift. We left her old car, a 2000 Hyundai Sonata in Omaha three months ago as it was just too much of a headache with issues, and so I gave her the Bronco at that point.. the Hyundai was a stick as well... but you would be hard pressed to find a rental car company at an airport that would have anything without an automatic transmission, however, there are small independent places, that would rent you a Jeep which might have one... and let's face it, these new Wrangler's with the automatic transmission are a travesty of all that used to be good about Jeep.. I for one, have a lot less problems with my current car.

Thanks for the compliments! She's still a work in progress too.

Robin,

It is great to view your pics and clips, and to see how you love your Pajero. We're all rather fanatical about the brand here. I really like to see how you tackle projects with your car and make it look better and work for you.

Just a question: What is it with the guns (on this thread and the "Post a pic of your favourite 4WD Pic, your own car no words" - thread)? Having come out of a 40-year struggle and the pain of war, and our current violent crime rate, most South Africans are rather sensitive about guns. Not to offend, may I request that you hold back on those pics? I will really appreciate that. My apology if I am out of line, in which case the moderators must please feel free to delete this post.

Any case, thanks for all the other pics and video clips. I really enjoy them! Please keep on posting!

Kind regards,
Anton

You're not out of line, Anton, I will not post anymore of those.. Phoenix was a pretty dangerous place too.. In second place for Kidnappings and drug murders by Mexican gangs.. I feel a lot safer with a firearm which I simply consider a "tool." I'll respect your wishes and not post anymore with any guns though! Just feel better as my firearms are a force for good. :) Thwarted two car jackings in Phoenix years ago, btw... also effected an arrest of a man who broke into my sailboat while I was aboard!

Thank you for the compliments... I have had to not post a few of the videos like "Pajero: A Tradition in the Desert" as I swear a few times when my dog BoomArang is covered with cholla and I'm trying to get them off him... I try and follow the rules..

I put a South African Flag on the back on the right rear side of the cargo door.. next to the spare tyre..

Once again, I apologize for upsetting you! I've just redacted all of the images that might offend you. I know I'm a guest here.

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the forum, I believe you will enjoy it here and it's nice to see other Pajero's from across the globe. I see you are from Platte in Nebraska - I stayed in Kimball & Pukwana in South-Dakota for two years and did some work in and around Platte, Corsica etc. Nice flowing hills, I liked it.

You don't do any lawnmower racing by any chance? :D
